superb pattern was created by the French sculptor, Antoine Heller, who was
inspired by the murals in the Palace of Versailles. It is a multi-motif
pattern from 1888 and each piece of this pattern is decorated with a
figural theme from the Versailles Palace.

Provenance: This set was owned by John Henry Kirby known as "Father of
Industrial Texas", of Houston Texas. Kirby was a businessman whose ventures made him arguably the largest lumber manufacturer in Texas and the Southern United States. In addition to serving two terms in the Texas Legislature, he would also establish the Kirby Petroleum Company.
