William Spratling was an American-born silver designer and artist, best known for his influence on 20th century Mexican silver design. He was trained as an architect and was a talented visual artist by the 1930's he founded the first of the silver shops that would spur a Mexican silver renaissance. His inspired designs blend a unique modern aesthetic with Pre-Columbian designs, creating works of art. These handcrafted utensils show off the exceptional skill of the legendary Spratling silversmiths and the unique design vision of William Spratling. Rare unique Dinner Bell by William Spratling, Taxco Mexico, circa 1962-1964, Third Design period. Stamped for William Spratling, further stamped 925/Eagle 30. The three bells are surmounted by a twisted openwork handle, surrounded by Aztec-style butterflies and topped with a ball finial. Measurements: 5.625" H x 3" diameter, weight 6.6 ozt.
