Founded in Paris in 1804, Cardeilhac steadily gained one of the top silversmith positions in Europe between the years 1829 and 1920. Cardeilhac was the silversmith to Napoleon III and other prominent French. Cardeilhac is known for crafting some of the world's magnificent pieces of art in sterling silver and gold, decorated with rich Renaissance patterns of engraving and textures.
This exquisite flatware pattern was inspired by the Renaissance style with its trilobite and pierced tip, embellished with a putti head and decorated with leaves.
In 1951, the Christofle company agreed with Ernest Cardeilhac to purchase the Cardeilhac tools and patterns. To this day, this is one of Christofle’ s most expensive and most desirable patterns of all time!
