Blanchard taught his son-in-law and renowned designer Allan Adler (the
silversmith to the stars) the craft of silversmithing and was the one of
the founders of the Arts & Crafts movement in California, after
moving from Boston where 5 generations had been in silversmithing. Blanchard bridged the Arts and Crafts and Modern movements. Blanchard&apos s
exploration into progressive design began with the silver he exhibited
at the 1928 Exhibition of the Decorative Arts at the National Arts Club
in New York.
