The
Pyramid pattern designed in 1927 by Harald Nielsen, was inspired by the
styling of the Art Déco period with it's sleek and modern lines as well
as Ancient Egyptian forms and symbolism, which was vogue in the late
1920's due to the discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb. As he once said
"Ornamentation should emphasize the harmony of the pieces, but must not
dominate."
Harald
Nielsen's incredible talent originated some of the most successful
designs from the Georg Jensen company during the 1920's and 30's. He is a
story of Georg Jensen legacy, as he started at an early age and grew
into an expert craftsman with the company. As he grew his work, he left
the Art Nouveau style and developed his onwn style that incorporated the
Art Deco design but was his own interpretation of it. After Georg
Jensen passed, he made it his life's work to carry on the work and spent
more than a half century at Georg Jensen.
