George Christian Gebelein is known as one of America&apos s best Arts and Crafts silversmiths of the 20th century. The Boston native has been called the &quot Modern Paul Revere&quot . He earned acclaim for the superb quality of his handcrafted silver and was highly respected as America&apos s foremost expert in Colonial silver. He worked at Shiebler, Tiffany Co. as a silversmith, and Durgin in his early years. The high quality of his work brought countless commissions for decades to come. His silver was special order handmade and custom commissioned. In the year 1906, he began marking his pieces with his name, as seen on this bowl. Much of his work was either inspired by or was a modern interpretation of Colonial silver. Examples of his exceptional work are displayed in the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.
