Martele by Gorham
Superb exceedingly rare .9584 sterling silver Service Plate with beautiful daisy design and subtle hand hammered finish. It bears the stamp #MHH, made July 1907, making time 6 hours, chasing time 24 hours, by Emil Stursberg.
Martele' was Gorham's most expensive and most desirable silver. When all pieces were then being machine made, Gorham brought together in their most talented silversmiths and opened one department to make silver Martele' by hand.
It measures 10 1/8" in diameter and weighs 19.2 troy ounces. It has a beautiful hand engraved crest depicting a dragon with a crown and lions on a shield, along the rim. Excellent vintage condition. Museum quality.
