Provenance: RTF mono for Robert Trueheart Foster, 1919 graduating class at West Point, although due to wartime the class actually graduated in 1918, but still used the 1919 seal. JJ mono for Julia Jones, who he married in 1924. Robert was a combat infantryman in WWII. He was awarded the silver star, legion of Merit, 3 bronze star medals, purple heart, and 2 commendations medals for his service in Europe. He retired as a Colonel in 1951 after 36 years of military service.
 
Art Deco Durgin sterling silver 5-piece tea set.   It features an acanthus leaf border.   The pieces have a scrolly monogram &quot JJ-RTF&quot with applied eagle, and date 1919 with USMA for United States Military Academy (West Point graduate).   They are marked #48 and were retailed by the Bailey, Banks Biddle Co.   The set includes:
  • Coffee Pot:   Holds 2 pints, and it measures 8&quot tall, 9&quot wide, and it weighs 14.6 ozt.  

  • Tea Pot:   Holds 1 3/4 pints, and it measures 5 3/4&quot tall, 9&quot wide, and it weighs 13.2 ozt.  

  • Sugar Bowl (With No Lid):   Measures 4 1/4&quot tall, 7&quot wide, and it weighs 6.2 ozt.

  • Creamer:   Holds 3/4 pints, and it measures 3 3/4&quot tall, 6 1/4&quot wide, and it weighs 5.7 ozt.  

  • Waste:   Measures 3&quot tall, 4 1/4&quot wide, and it weighs 5.0 ozt.
