Outstanding Modernic by Gorham c1905 sterling silver seven-piece tea set with silverplate tray. This is from the time when Gorham went back to making hand wrought silver in some of their specialized departments with their very best silversmiths. They made three patterns of hand wrought hollowware - Martele', Athenic, and Modernic. Modernic is the rarest of the three. This set is hand wrought with subtle hand hammered surface, with a design of flowing grapes and grapevines. This set includes:


1 - Kettle on Stand with burner: Marked #A4656, measures 14" tall x 8 1/2", and weighs 60.38 troy ounces.


1 - Samovar Hot Water Urn with Stand and burner: Measures 15" tall x 11" and weighs 84 troy ounces. (Fabulous!)


1 - Coffee Pot: Marked #A4651, measures 10" tall x 9", and weighs 31.19 troy ounces.



1 - Tea Pot: Marked #A4652, measures 6 1/2" tall x 10 1/4", and weighs 27.27 troy ounces.


1 - Sugar Bowl (gold washed interior with lid): Marked #A4653, measures 5 1/2" tall x 8 1/4", and weighs 19.22 troy ounces.


1 - Creamer (gold washed interior): Marked #A4654, measures 6" tall x 5 3/4", and weighs 12.3 troy ounces.


1 - Waste (gold washed interior): Marked #A4655, measures 4 1/8" tall x 7 1/2", and weighs 16.1 troy ounces.


1 - Tray (silverplate - not Gorham): Measures 30" (l) x 18" (w).


The sterling silver pieces in the tea set are not monogrammed and are in excellent vintage condition. The silverplate tray has a monogram (see photos), and is in good estate condition as shown in the photos, with minor surface scratches as expected with age.
