Superb Moresque by Tiffany Co. sterling silver Coffee Kettle or Urn from 1848-1873 with gold highlights and elaborate openwork handles, pattern 1770. Gorgeous original satin finish, #981-5555 (with no stand).
It measures 11 1/2" x 8 1/4" and weighs 63 ozt.
It is monogrammed with date (see photo) - likely a 25 year anniversary gift. It is in museum quality condition with original stand missing as noted. Early Tiffany Union Square marks.
This pattern is in the Philadelphia Museum of Art, illustrated in John Lorings Magnificent Tiffany Book. This outstanding pattern was on display at the Paris Exposition of 1867 (see photo from book).
