Georg Jensen very rare Art Deco candelabra, no. 623B.
Pair of four branch Art Deco rare candelabra designed by Oscar Gundlach-Pedersen in 1937. Features a sturdy, step-up base and strong and sleek arms topped with " ring" motif characteristic of this designer who preferred very clean Minimalist lines.
Oscar Gundlach-Pedersen:
Trained as an architect at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, school of Architecture, Oscar Gundlach-Pedersen (1886 - 1960) went on to design a number of important buildings in Denmark. In 1927, he became the manager of the Georg Jensen Silversmithy, a position he held until 1931. Gundlach-Pedersen designed two flatware patterns for the Silversmithy. One, introduced in 1931, is called " Relief" or " Parallel," and the other, introduced in 1937, is called " Ladby" or " Nordic." During the 1920s and &apos 30s, he also designed a number of pieces of holloware, including bowls, candelabras, candlesticks, cups, dishes and trays. All these pieces have clean lines, smooth surfaces and little or no ornamentation.
