Olympian by Tiffany and Co.


The Olympian pattern, which was introduced by Tiffany Co. in 1878, is the most elaborate and complex of all Tiffany flatware designs. Each piece of Olympian is designed to illustrate a well-known story of Classical mythology. The subjects vary with the size of the handles on the different pieces. 


Stunning sterling silver Pastry Server measuring 10 3/4" in the pattern Olympian by Tiffany and Co. The handle of this piece features the thirteenth motif in this pattern, which is Orpheus charming wild animals with his music and features lyre and animal heads on the reverse. This piece is all-sterling and has hollow handles with beautifully gold-washed bowls. The non gold-washed version of this piece is featured on page 211 in the "Tiffany Silver Flatware 1845-1905: When Dining Was an Art" by William P Hood Jr with Rosalyn Berlin and Edward Wawrynek. It is not monogrammed and is in excellent condition.
