14k Harry Roa Large Modernist Tie Tack Pin w/Diamonds Cabochon Gemstone (#J7365)
14k yellow gold modernist tie tack made by Harry Roa. The tie tack measures 2 1/2" long and contains eleven natural earth mined round brilliant cut diamonds. Ten of the diamonds are channel set and one is bezel set. The diamonds range from 1.5mm to 2.5mm.
There is a large bezel set pinkish-red cabochon natural gemstone, possibly a ruby, but we have not sent to a gem lab for testing. The gem measures about 14.5mm x 10mm and is highly included. There is a chip in one end on the reverse.
The pin stem and clasp are not gold and were added later. There is also an area where something was removed and a small spot of white metal on the reverse remains. Perhaps it was converted from a pendant into a tie tack later. The piece weighs 9.26 dwt., and is contemporary. Wow!
