Coquille by Société Anonyme Argental
Société Anonyme Argental was a French manufacturer of fine silver-plated tableware, established in Paris in 1921, with its manufacturing works at Coulommiers in Seine-et-Marne. Argental became known for its beautifully made French flatware and tableware, including designs reflecting the elegant decorative styles of the early 20th century. The company's workshops employed a traditional, multi-step manufacturing process in which pieces were shaped, formed, assembled, carefully finished, polished, and finally silver-plated by electrolysis.
The company is readily identified by its distinctive maker's mark featuring a halberd within a lozenge, accompanied by the initials associated with Société Anonyme Argental. Argental's activity was acquired by Orfèvrerie Ercuis in 1968, although the Argental name continued to appear in commerce afterward.
