Sterling handwrought pin featuring a framed covered bridge and trees signed by Fred Dodson. The pin has multiple layers of handmade pieces. It measures 2 1/2" by 1 5/8" and weighs 18.75 dwt. It dates from the 1950's. Spectacular piece!
Fred Dodson was an American artist born in 1921 who attended the Grand Central School of Art and Columbia University in New York City. In 1954 he and his family moved to New Hampshire. He made his living there as a craftsman, creating pewter hollowware, silver jewelry, candlesticks, and sculpture. In 1968 Fred and his wife retired to Florida when he became specialized in painting watercolors.
