Exquisite Kalo sterling silver handwrought and hammered one piece ice cream dish with attached underplate. It has a "W" monogram (see photos). The bowl measures 3 3/4 x 4 1/2", and the plate is 7" diameter. It weighs 11.5 ozt. It is in excellent condition.
Kalo was founded in 1900 in Chicago. In it's
prolific 70 year history, Kalo produced holloware, flatware, and jewelry. Kalo
was a leader of the Arts Crafts movement. The orginal company was comprised
of 6 women, all graduates of the Art Institute. The company name is taked from
the Greek word, "to make beautiful".
