Lily by Whiting is one of the most distinctive and highly sculptural patterns produced by the renowned Whiting Manufacturing Company. Introduced in 1902, Lily reflects the elegance of the Art Nouveau period, with the entire handle transformed into a dramatic arrangement of blossoming lilies, flowing stems, and graceful foliage. Rather than simply engraving flowers onto a flat handle, Whiting created the design in high relief, giving the lilies an almost three-dimensional quality. The result is an exceptionally ornate and beautifully dimensional piece of American sterling silver.
