St. Cloud was named for the Chateau de
Saint-Cloud in France. It was purchased by King Louis XVI for Marie-Louise in
1785 and was residence of Napoleon Bonaparte in 1804. The St. Cloud pattern was
patented in the late 1880's and features an elaborate design with foliate
motifs.
