The Mid-Century Modern sterling silver pattern "SOUTHWIND" was introduced by Towle in the year 1952, and was an adaptation of the pattern Contour by Towle. This pattern was part of a line of progressive patterns designed at that time that reflected the appeal of natural abstraction in modern Scandinavian design. This pattern has particularly unique knives, with blades that are set on an angle. The flowing, natural quality of silver is expressed.
